The Keewatin Patricia District School Board is expanding
it’s oral language program into secondary school.
The pilot project is already in 9 elementary schools
within the region.
Superintendent of Education Wendy Wiedenhoft says the
program has significantly helped close the gap between
Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal students.

Starting this month the board will be training
intermediate, Grade 9, and later literacy teachers at the
secondary level.
