The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board says its seen good success in its oral language and early literacy programs.
The Board says testing shows there is about a 10 month gap between aboriginal and non-aboriginal students entering the school system.
But Director of Education Larry Hope feels that’s a gap that can be closed quickly.
Hope says the results of the Oral Language Program are actually very encouraging and will help educators learn what students need in order to succeed.
The Board has joined 7-other boards across Northern Ontario to conduct the oral language project.
