The Union representing Hospital workers in Ontario wants the Provincial Government to open more beds, not close them.
That was one of the issues raised during a tour of area Hospitals this week by the Canadian Union of Public Employees.
Spokesperson Sharon Richer says over-crowding is leading to poor sanitary conditions in some Hospitals.
Richer says over 8,000 people have died due to hospital acquired illnesses and she says something needs to be done.
She also wants hospitals to report on their web-sites, how many people have died due to infections they acquired in their facility.
Richer was in Sioux Lookout on Wednesday.
