The Ministry of Natural Resources has added over 400-

thousand acres to the Parks and Protected area system in

the province.

The area known as Pipestone, and Rainy River Lake

Islands near Fort Frances have been deemed new

conservation reserves.

Spokesperson Burton File-Ders says in Kenora, over 8-

thousand hectares of land has been added to the existing

Lake of the Woods Provincial Park.

No industrial work will be allowed in the protected

areas, but leisure activities such as hunting and fishing

are permitted.
