The Northern Ontario Tourist Outfitters Association says it doesn’t expect new passport requirements to have much of an impact on business this year.
Starting June 1st, anyone entering the U.S. will need a passport.
Executive Director Doug Reynolds says they have been preparing for this initiative for several years now.
Reynolds notes campowners have been proactive in educating people on the passport requirements.
He expects the recession and high gas prices will have a bigger impact on tourism in this region than new passport requirements.
