The Conservative candidate for Kenora-Rainy River says a newly formed provincial nuisance bear committee won’t provide real solutions for northerners.
The motion passed in the Ontario Legislature 31-24 last week.
Randy Nickle suggests it’s a wasteful study and is another form of duplication.
Nickle says the Conservatives have already been looking at consulting local residents on the wildlife issues facing the region and that their northern policy has given northerners a voice to determine what’s best for them.
The PC government calls the committee a waste of money and note that 3 former Ministers of Natural Resources stood and voted against it.
The party adds that a committee was already in place to study the issue and they made their recommendations to the government.
