A Progressive Conservative MPP believes northern Ontario is once again being ignored in government decisions.
Ernie Hardeman is upset the Liberals have blocked a PC motion to hold a committee meeting in the north to hear from mayors and residents about their concerns with the Modernizing Ontario’s Municipal Legislation.
Bill 68 amends 17 different pieces of legislation relating to the Municipal Act, conflict of interest, elections, public transportation and municipal planning.
Hardeman says it seems the government doesn’t want to take the time to listen to how this bill will impacts Ontario residents in the north.
He stresses northern Ontario concerns should be heard.
Hardeman proposed the northern community meeting for the upcoming legislative break week, which would not have delayed the legislation or daily business at Queen’s Park.
