PC Party Scraps GreenON Program

A popular home retrofit program is being axed by the new Doug Ford government. The plug was suddenly pulled on the GreenOn Energy Rebate fund yesterday. Under GreenON, homeowners could apply for rebates to install more energy efficient windows, insulation, solar panels and smart thermostats. Anyone who submitted an application prior to June 19th can still get a rebate, but contractors will have to complete the work by the end of August. Final applications for a rebate will also have to be submitted by September 30th. GreenOn was the victim of the Conservatives decision to cancel the Wynne Government’s Cap and Trade system.
