The opposition at Queen’s Park is hot under the collar about the most recent electricity price increases.
On-peak rates will go up 8.7% on November 1st.
PC critic John Yakabuski says the hike isn’t sustainable and will force ratepayers to pay an additional $120 more a year on their bill.
Yakabuski says Ontario is already the most expensive energy jurisdiction in North America and the province is suffering from “energy poverty”.
Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli says the rates will be offset by new energy programs and the removal of the Debt Retirement Charge on your electricity bill.
