The push at Queen’s Park for video cameras on school buses to catch motorists who fail to stop for a bus with its red lights flashing.
The PC party wants to make them mandatory piece of equipment.
Critic Mike Harris says its an opportunity to improve student safety.
The party attempted to include the measure as part of a bill giving municipalities the ability to install photo-radar cameras in school safety zones and community zones.
It’s attempt was rejected in a vote Wednesday night.
Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca supports the initiative, but was included as part of 300 amendments to Bill 65 brought forward by the Progressive Conservatives he said had little to do with student safety.
