Pests Stopped at International Falls

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is releasing details of a shipment from Bangladesh, halted at the International Falls Port of Entry, after it was found to contain potentially destructive insects.
Scaly crickets and tiny mosquito-like insects were discovered during the September 8th inspection of the shipment that was headed to Chicago, through Canada.
Officials say the insects had the potential of causing damage to agricultural crops.
The container was emptied and swept out.
The cargo was to be fumigated before being allowed to continue.
