The next and final phase of the Freedom Road to the Shoal Lake #40 First Nation is about to begin.
The Manitoba Government has announced work on the section of the road from Shoal Lake to the Trans-Canada Highway will start next week.
Sigfussen Northern has been awarded a 12 million dollar contact for construction of the 24 kilometer all-weather road.
It’s expected the work will wrap up in March of 2019.
The on-reserve portion of the Freedom Road has already been completed, as has the bridge connecting the island community to the mainland.
