Pickets are now up in front of the post office in Dryden and other communities across Northwestern Ontario.
Postal workers were locked out late Tuesday night.
Mary Aiken is the President of the Dryden Local Canadian Postal Workers Union.
Aiken says its irresponsible for Canada Post to lock them out.
She says they are willing to negotiate and stop the picket lines as long as Canada Post agrees to reinstate the old collective agreement until a new one can be negotiated.
Canada Post says it’s lost $100-million since the job action began and it believes the lockout is the best way to resolve a contract impasse over pensions.
Aiken says she doesn’t know if they can’t add, noting it would be cheaper to negotiate a settlement than to leave them out on strike.
Meantime, the Federal Government is warning it may introduce
legislation in as little as 48 hours to end the lockout at Canada Post if a deal is not reached.
