More than four thousand civil servants in the Northwest have joined their provincial counterparts today on the picket lines.
Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union walked off the job at midnight after contract talks with the government broke off.
Dryden-based Carl Bleich, who represents OPSEU workers in the Northwest, says picket lines are up at various locations including in front of provincial government buildings and the Dryden MNR Fire Centre.
Job security and wages are among the main issues.
Most civil servants in the Northwest work for the Ministries of Labour, Transportation and Natural Resources.
