Dryden Police Chief Rob Davis says social media played a major role in the arrest of a 22-year-old Geraldton man.
Christopher Donylyk was arrested for assaulting a Pikangikum man at a local fast food restaurant.
Davis says policing has changed since the intoduction of social media.
He says they managed to wrap up their investigating within 3 days, as before it would have taken month.
Davis admits he was a sceptic on the use of social media but is now convinced it works.
Both the Dryden Police and the CKDR Facebook page received thousands of tips and comments about the incident.
A video of the assault appeared on Youtube and Davis says that helped officers quickly track the accused as well as suspects.
