School shootings across North America have prompted police forces to take action.
The Dryden Police Service has become the first municipal force in the region to receive training in the Immediate Rapid Deployment Program, which is expected to become standard practise in Ontario.
Dryden Police Inspector Terry Spicer says officers are being taught the proper and quickest way to get to a hostile situation and to neutralize any threats.
Spicer says the training allows officers to become proactive in preparing for the worst.
The Thunder Bay Police Service is leading the campaign in the Northwest.
