Wabigoon Lake Ojibway First Nation is asking Dryden Council to sign a letter of support for a hotel and casino in Dryden.
Rueben Cantin Senior says the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation has extended its deadline for proposals.
Cantin believes the province is supportive of the proposal, referring to a discussion he had with former minister Kathleen Wynne about the community playing an important role in economic development.
The original plan was to develop a 300-slot machine facility, however Cantin notes the OLG believes a 145-slot machine facility with tables is more feasible.
Wabigoon Lake is forecasting that such a facility would generate $15-million in the community and create over 100-jobs.
Revenues would be shared by both communities.
Cantin adds Wabigoon Lake is willing to work with the city to find a suitable location.
