Municipalities in the region are facing a wide range of financial challenges, and need more help from the province.
That was the message from the new president of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association.
Michael Power was elected over the weekend at NOMA’s annual convention in Kenora.
He says the forestry industry in particular has been hard hit and needs some assistance from the province.

Power also says he’d like to set up a meeting in the next couple of weeks with the premier to talk about revising the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund, which he describes as completely inadequate.
