Premier Kathleen Wynne says she can’t promise they will be successful in finding a resolution to the softwood lumber dispute.
Wynne says part of the problem is we don’t have a national strategy and it’s a challenge to reach a Canadian solution before they reach a deal with the Americans.
She stresses Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick interests are not the same as B.C.’s interests.
Former Trade Minister Jim Peterson will handle the softwood file for Ontario.
Wynne notes the province recently invested $20-million to improve or build forest access roads to support the industry.
