Premier Under Attack For Funding Support For Teachers Unions

The provincial government isn’t apologizing for giving teachers unions $3.5-million to help cover their negotiating costs.

In the legislature, Premier Kathleen Wynne says the unions will only be eligible for the funding once they’ve provided all their receipts.

Wynne says while the money has been promised, it hasn’t been paid out yet.

She also disputes opposition claims the money is coming out of classroom budgets, saying the bill is being covered through savings that have been negotiated with the unions.
