The provincial government is floating the idea of a new Municipal Land Transfer Tax, on top of the provincial land transfer tax.
PC critic Steve Clark says such a tax would put the dream of owning a home out of the reach for many people.
Clark says with the addition of a new tax, coupled with soaring hydro rates, Ontarians are being priced out of owning a home.
He stresses the province is becoming uncompetitive tax jurisdiction in North America,
Finance Minister Charles Sousa says they are currently consulting municipalities about the proposed tax, and no decision has been made.
