Premier Wading Into Assisted Suicide Debate

Ontario’s premier is wading into the discussion of assisted suicides.
Kathleen Wynne says comments in a video by the late Dr. Donald Low about end of life issues mirror that of many other Canadians.
Low suggested that Canada needs to do better job with end of life issues and is prompting the need for a federal debate on the issue.
Low, a prominent figure in the 2003 SARS Crisis, stated that he debated assisted suicide before his death last week.
Wynne agrees that a national debate should take place but isn’t taking any sides on the issue.
Federal Justice Minister Peter MacKay has said the Conservatives have no plans to reopen debate on legalizing assisted suicide.
