The Ministry of Natural Resources says the Horse Lake prescribed burn in the Sioux Lookout district is 80% complete.
Spokesperson Darren McLarty says the burn was carried out Monday and Tuesday and was a success.
The prescribed burn covered roughly 500-hectares.
McLarty says the fire, about 70-kilometres north of Sioux Lookout, will produce some smoke over the next couple of days.
He notes the burn allowed the MNR to remove dangerous fuel build up as well as regenerate the forest.
He adds it took three years of planning to carry out the project.
McKenzie Forest Products was a major player in the prescribed burn.
