Pride Month Begins In Sioux Lookout

A parade of rainbows filled the streets of Sioux Lookout on Sunday.

Sioux Lookout kicked off Pride month with their Pride Day celebrations over the weekend, and Rainbow Alliance Dryden made the trip to Sioux Lookout to join and support.

Mayor Doug Lawrance said a few words on behalf of the community and raised the Pride flag at the Municipality Office before everyone embarked on the Pride Parade, followed by a sharing circle, music and prizes.

Co-Chair of Sioux Lookout’s Gay-Straight Alliance, Mary-Ann Flatt, says Pride Days are a reminder for inclusiveness and acceptance of the LGBTQ2 community. She also says Sioux Lookout has been very supportive over the years of all Pride and GSA events.

Pride Days all across the region will take place this month with more to come in Red Lake and Dryden.
