The new Executive Director of the Dryden Native Friendship Centre says her main focus will be to restore traditional languages.
Cheryl Edwards says a recent survey found that a number of youth have wandered away from their roots, but stresses they aren’t alone.
Edwards says they found that middle aged and older adults as well as some elders have lost their native language.
She notes they will be bringing in as many language teachers as they can back into the community.
Edwards stresses they have to looking a preserving local language in a different way and by bringing everyone to the table.
