Province Approves Operating Deficit

The Northwest Catholic District School Board has approved the 2011-2012 budget.
The budget is at $20.6-million, with an operating deficit of $939,000.
Superintendent of Business Chris Howarth says declining revenue combined with increasing expenses led to the deficit.
Howarth says the Board made significant cuts to professional development and administration as well as eliminating the literacy coach program.
The Board did agree to finalize a plan to place Smart Boards in every classroom as well as expand the full-day Kindergarten program at Sioux Lookout.
