Province Eases Up On New Septic Tank Rules

A break for rural residents who have septic tanks on their property. The provincial government is eliminating some of the proposed rules for the systems. Municipal Affairs Minister Bill Mauro says that includes regular inspections and the keeping of maintenance records. Mauro says the decision came as the result of consultations throughout the province. The Thunder Bay-Atikokan MPP says people told him that there was no need for the added scrutiny. Mauro says he also believed the crackdown wasn’t necessary.
