The Province is extending it’s Northern Industrial Electricity Rate program for another 3 years.
It provides companies with a lower costing electricity rate.
Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association Spokesperson Larry Hebert says the program is crucial.
He adds that large users such as the mines, are going to have this program for another three years and 120 million dollars a year (360 million dollars over the three-year period) will equal to 20 dollars per megawatt in savings.
The 360 million dollar announcement was made on Friday with Thunder Bay MPP’s Michael Gravelle and Bill Mauro.
