New Gold has the final key piece before it can proceed with the development of its gold mine near Barwick.
Ontario has given its approval to an environmental assessment of the project.
This, along with the federal approval received in early January, allows the company to begin applying for the necessary permits for the development and operational phases of the project.
Construction is expected to begin by the middle of this year.
