Province Helps Pave Way to Alternative Energy Tech

Northern development and mines minister Rick Bartolucci announced yesterday in Fort Frances that the McGuinty Government is set to start working with Fort Frances.

The project will upgrade infrastructure in support of the biomass burner project at the mill.

Bartolucci, who is also the chair of the Northern Ontario Heritage fund corporation, says the one point three million dollar investment will greatly upgrade infrastructure to support the operation of the biomass burner.

The biomass burner is a part of an 84-million dollar investment by Abitibi Consolidated at the local pulp and paper mill.

The initiative supports the creation of up to a hundred full time positions and the retention of more that one thousand jobs in the mill and in the woodlands of the Rainy River district.
