Ontario Aboriginal Affairs Minister Kathleen Wynne has apologized to Wabigoon Lake First Nation.
The apology was issued yesterday at a special ceremony in the community.
Wynne also formally signed a roughly $20-million settlement with Chief Ruben Cantin Sr.
The money is for past and ongoing flooding on the reserve.
Wynne says the apology is a long-time coming.
Wynne says yesterday strengthened their relationship with the First Nation.
Chief Cantin Sr. says the apology brings closure.
Cantin Sr. says its been a long proccess but notes the community can now move on.
He says a chunk of the money will be invested in future growth.
