The provincial government has no plans to step in following a Union Gas decision to raise rates by as much as $190 for northerners over the next year.
Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli says the Ontario Energy Board will have the final say, noting its a fair and transparent process.
Chiarelli says he has all of the confidence in the Energy Board to make a fair decision.
Union Gas wants new rates in place by April 1st.
The NDP says northerners can’t afford to pay more for natural gas.
