Province Orders Review Of Gas Prices

The Ontario Energy Board is being asked to review gasoline prices in the province.

Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault says the goal is to make the fuel pricing system more transparent.

He says there is often a big discrepancy in gas prices from community to community, especially in northern Ontario.

Thibeault says they want to bring clarity to how gas prices are set by oil companies.

He notes the OEB will be tasked with holding consultations and identifying causes of price variations and how Ontario compares to other jurisdictions.

Thibeault says they will use the results of the OEB findings to develop a strategy to address provincial fuel prices.
