Province Recognizing Volunteers

Part of Canada’s 150th Birthday celebrations includes honouring our hard working volunteers.

The provincial government is holding appreciation and awards ceremonies across Ontario.

Speaking in Dryden, Program Lead Colleen Moran says there are some 12,000 individuals that are lending a helping hand.

Moran stresses it’s important to recognize all volunteers and the contributions they make to their home communities.

She says they recognize anyone who has provided 5 to 65 years of service with one organization.

Moran adds they recognize any youth who has provided two years of service with one group, noting they are our future.

She says community groups and organizations can nominate a volunteer at any time of the year.
