The province of Ontario is rolling out a new strategy aimed at tackling homelessness and poverty.
The 5-year plan includes a new Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative that enables municipalities to develop programs meeting their specific needs.
It also includes the construction of 1,000 new social housing spaces.
The Minister responsible, Deb Mathews says the goal is to end homelessness in the province.
The strategy recommits the Liberal government’s previous promise to reduce child poverty by 25%
