The Provincial Government is looking to update its labour laws.
It’s because the workplace has changed since the Labour Relations Act of 1995 and the Employment Standards Act of 2000.
Special Advisor to the Province, Michael Mitchell says they’ve been touring the province collecting feedback.
Mitchell held an open forum in Thunder Bay, the only northwestern Ontario stop on the tour.
Mitchell says they heard about vulnerable workers and the difference between part-time and full-time work.
He adds they have received a lot of feedback from trade unions that collective bargaining practices need to change.
Mitchell says they hope to have an interim report ready for the New Year.
