Province Still Working With First Nations On Ring Of Fire Development

The Conservatives say the Wynne Government isn’t doing enough to help First Nations in the Ring of Fire.

PC critic Ross Romano says several communities are facing decades-long boil water advisories and electrical issues.

Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation David Zimmer says recently he and MPP’s Bill Mauro and Michael Gravelle visited the region and held extensive consultations with First Nations and mining officials.

Zimmer claims there’s still a willingness from all sides to develop an all-weather road into the Ring of Fire and move forward on the mining project.

He says the project will help resolve those issues impacting First Nations.

Zimmer admits there are still significant issues with drinking water in a number of communities, but says they are working with the Federal government to address those problems.
