Northern Ontario is getting more money for highway upgrades,
however a bulk of the money is going to the Northeast region.
$248-million is headed to highway expansion in the Northeast, while our
area will see $92.
Provincial officials say traffic volume and the high number of crashes
and fatalities in the Northeast were considered in the allocation.
$15.4-million will be spent on the Highway 17 corridor from Kenora to
Thunder Bay.
That money will be used to improve rest stops, add safety message signs
and increase the number of passing lanes.
