It appears the provincial government has no plans on turning winter road maintenance over to public hands.
The NDP is calling on public sector control over snow clearing concerns across Ontario.
However, Minister of Transportation Kathryn McGarry says the status quo is working
McGarry stresses that winter road maintenance in all contract areas in the province have continued without any reduction in required service levels.
She accuses the opposition of fear mongering.
McGarry adds that she is committed to ensure that the government has all roads safe and clear at all times.
