The provincial government says it’s still committed to twinning the Trans-Canada highway west of Kenora to the Manitoba boundary.
The government initially announced funding for the project back in 2009 and there has been some suggestion the money has to be spent by the end of this year.
Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle says to his knowledge there is no expiry date on the funding.
Gravelle says the government is still working through some of the issues holding up the twinning and hasn’t given up on it yet.
He adds he’s been in communication with the Transportation Minister, but wouldn’t say when construction on the project might go ahead.
