The NDP is asking the Ford government to declare an opioid crisis a public health emergency.
Mental Health Critic Bhutila Karpoche calls the crisis real and relentless, stating a declaration would be the first step to fight opioid use.
Karpoche has reiterated her party’s plea for the Conservatives to support funding for overdose prevention sites.
She says Ontario deserves a government that takes the crisis seriously and is prepared to take immediate action to save lives.
The renewed call for a health emergency comes after a medical inquiry into the death of Bradley Chapman, a homeless man in Toronto who overdosed in an alley.
