Provincial NDP Leader Mentions Legislation Proposal To Municipal Delegates

Provincial NDP leader Andrea Horwath thinks municipalities should have a say when it comes to changing the makeup of their councils.

The opposition leader told municipal delegates in Ottawa that her party will propose their own legislation next month.

She says if passed, the legislation would protect municipalities from future meddling in their elections through two key measures.

Those measures include stopping the government from changing the structure of councils and would require consultation before such a move can happen.
