Provincial Parks Will Be Open For Long Weekend

The opening of provincial parks this coming weekend is good news for campers and other residents of Sunset Country looking for fun in the outdoors.
However, the recent civil servants strike will delay the opening of several parks in Southern Ontario.
Scott Ellery, an MNR Parks Superintendant for this region, says a lot of work needs to be done for Victoria Day weekend but adds parks will be open in the Northwest.
He adds summer contract workers are normally hired in early May anyway so the strike does not have a huge impact on that process.
However, other challenges include getting computer systems up and running on time and clearing brush and fallen trees from campgrounds.
