Provincial Uploading Helps KDSB With 2010 Budget

Area Municipalities may be paying less for social services next year.
The Kenora District Service Board has released its proposed budget for 2010, with net costs dropping $147,000 from 2009.
The budget is pegged at roughly $13.9-million.
Finance Chair Anne Krassilowsky says they are still facing considerable pressures.
The KDSB is expecting to pay $6.1-million in Ontario Works financial benefits next year, up $700,000 from this year.
All communities in the District have seen an increase in cases, with the exception of Red Lake.
The KDSB is also expecting a $241,000 drop in Best Start Childcare funding in 2010.
Krassilowsky warns if no new funds aren’t announced by June, the best start program will be ramped down.
