The Provincial Government is giving the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board over $3-million to help improve the energy efficiency of its buildings.
Superintendent of Business Dean Carrie says its a good deal, because it will help them save money on its utility bills.
Carrie says they have hired MCW Custom Energy Solutions to evaluate each school in the system and suggest areas where they can save money on energy consumption.
Some of the work will include lighting re-designs in each of the schools, improved automation systems, and heat recovery systems.
Carrie estimates they should be able to save about $250,000 a year in energy costs.
