It’s official!
As CKDR News told you Tuesday, the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board will be moving ahead with the consultation process to change Dryden High School to a Grade 7 to 12 school.
Superintendent of Education Caryl Hron explains the positives students in Grades 7 and 8 would have if the model was to be implemented.
“Some of them would have bigger groups of students to hang out with, it would give them opportunities to have specialized teachers, they would have access to music programing and being able to play different instruments.”
If the school board moves forward with the Grade 7 to12 model, schools in the Vermillion Bay and Dryden area will be part of it.
The model is in its first year at Beaver Brae High School in Kenora and Hron says it’s been very successful.
The Board approved two public meeting dates for February 18th and 26th to address the matter.
The school is aiming at implementing the model for September 2015.
