The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board believes balancing the next budget won’t be a problem.
Provincial funding for the Board for 2016-2017 has been basically maintained at $73.6-million.
Superintendent of Business Dean Carrie says they can live with the modest $3,000 increase.
Carrie says they are receiving some money to reflect recent contracts with teachers.
However, Carrie notes they’re losing another $240,000 this year for special education.
Carrie says a new model for spec. ed is being implemented and it doesn’t work particularly well in terms of funding for their board.
He says they will continue lobbying efforts on that front.
