Public School Board Promoting French Language Learning

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board says it has seen an enrolment spike in French immersion programs at high schools in Dryden and Kenora.

Spokesperson Ann McDonald says they are moving away from instruction on grammar and memorization on vocabulary.

McDonald says the focus is more on conversation and communicative skills.

She says they want students to think in French first and move away from text book work.
