Another attempt by a fraudster to steal money.
Dryden Police were alerted by a local resident who was called by someone claiming to be from Publisher’s Clearing House.
The caller stated that Canada Border Services was holding winnings of $2.5-million and a vehicle at the border and a $950 Western Union transfer was needed to release the prizes.
The money was to be sent to a specific individual at CBS but the caller cited security reasons when asked to divulge contact information.
Police are asking the public to talk to their aging parents to warn them of these kind of scams.
