A 32 day relay bike ride to raise money and awareness for Pulmonary Fibrosis has reached northwestern Ontario.
Julieann Chiodo and Olivia Mendicino left Vancouver on July 8th and are hoping to arrive in Toronto on August 8th.
During a stop in Dryden Thursday, Mendicino says the ride is in memory of her father, who passed away in 2014.
She says her father had the disease for two years and she witnessed first hand how tough it is to live through it.
Mendicino says there are drugs available to treat Pulmonary Fibrosis but stresses there is no cure and very little awareness.
Chiodo says they’ve been blown away with the response from Canadians.
She says they have already reached their fundraising goal of $10,000 for research and notes all funds raised from here on in will go to other research projects.
Chiodo says the ride is also focused on signing more people up to become an organ donor.
